Dates Halwa is a rich, indulgent Indian dessert that gets all its sweetness from Lion Dates — no sugar needed. Made with premium deseeded dates, ghee, and nuts, this halwa is a festive favourite that's also surprisingly nutritious. Serve warm for the ultimate comfort dessert!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Lion Qyno Deseeded Dates, soaked in 1 cup warm water for 30 mins
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • ½ cup mixed nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios), chopped
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • A few strands of saffron (soaked in 2 tbsp warm milk)
  • 2 tbsp Lion Dates Paste (for extra richness)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Blend dates: Blend soaked dates with their soaking water into a smooth paste.
  2. Cook the paste: Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. Add the dates paste and cook, stirring continuously, for 10–12 minutes until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
  3. Add dates paste: Stir in Lion Dates Paste for extra depth of flavour.
  4. Add flavours: Add cardamom powder and saffron milk. Mix well.
  5. Add nuts: Fold in most of the chopped nuts, reserving some for garnish.
  6. Serve: Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with remaining nuts, and serve warm.
